Is the stress of your work killing you?

Many people find their work stressful, but it's the feeling of not having any real control which can turn that stress into a killer. Researchers at University College, London, reckon that stressful jobs are those which put high demands on staff, but give them little freedom to decide how to do their work. This sort of stress raises the risk of a heart attack by 23%, according to the researchers "meta-analysis" of 200,000 people from seven European countries. People defined as suffering from job-related stress were 23% more likely to suffer from a heart attack than other workers, even after taking into account factors such as age and lifestyle.
